Mrs. Akimyo Russell is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Credentialing Center and licensed by the states of Maryland and Virginia to provide healthcare to patients of all ages. She has a passion for wellness and promotes living well physically and mentally. She is Functional Medicine provider and a Whole Health Coach and strongly believes in taking care of the whole person, allowing her to effectively partner with her clients to help them to reach their goals. She is also a certified Reiki Practitioner helping her clients to achieve the highest level of wellness through conventional and complementary healthcare. She has past experience in Neurology, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Primary Care, Retail Medicine, and has served as the Medical Director of the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at North Carolina Central University in 2001 and received her Master’s Degree from Marymount University as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2006. Her true desire is to get to the root of her patients’ medical conditions and help them to reach their goals of being well.
